Paying homage to all those classic horror movies I'd watch as a kid as they marathoned them on TV during the Halloween season. Frankie, Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon and of course Dracula.

Page from my sketch book. I've filled this book up and just started a new one. I'll try to post a page (well technically its a 2 page spread) a day. Hopefully I don't get too sidetracked from doing that. I have a few photo progressions on a couple of illustrations I've done though once I start doing the colors on the mac I forget to keep track of the progressions on that portion. Usually the applying of colors and photoshop tricks of the trade are what people ask not so much the inking. I'll try to do better on that as well.

On another note. this post is being fed from my Blogger blog rather than updating directly from the site. Trying to see if I switch to this method. Don't like the fact that the post title, date and time don't show. I have to manually type in the date which kinda suxs. Maybe I can find some work around for it.

New Tiki Noir Tee Design

Working on a new tee design. Still debating on color combinations but the Creme colored shirt seems to be winning out with the Army colored tee a close second. Any other opinions on this?

Sorry no new art, but I do have a new "Planet of the Apes" inspired tee shirt available over at stupidhurts.us The image is below. I think the shirts turned out superb. If you haven't gotten one I suggest you get one.

I've been without a computer (other than a little netbook and an iPad), son I've not been able to do any work (artwise) for some time. So I've needed to push back some deadlines and have had to turn down some jobs. Since my computer blew is power source and processor. It was an old PC (well old by PC standards a little over 3 years old) Kinda of getting tired of PC's with their constant crashing and freezing, lag time, and just sometimes unreliable. So I'll be upgrading hopefully.

Got a new little Toshiba Laptop for me to goof around with in the meantime. I got a case for external hard drives so I can access some of my stuff from the broken down computer. Only thing is the old computer has 2 hard drives so I don't have access to all my files but enough to where I can get some work done, but not really feeling the doing my art on the laptop. I just can't get use to it. On the bright side I will most likely be upgrading to a new iMac (this is the aforementioned upgrade I was discussing) by the end of the month, the larger 27" screen, as long as everything goes according to plan.

In the meantime I've been getting back into actually doing some inked illustrations. Figured I'd go through my ideas/concepts in-progress file and start knocking them out one by one, though on some concepts I'm not so keen on anymore so those have been deleted and replaced. Not having a computer readily available has been sort of a blessing in disguise. I've been very productive on my drafting table. averaging about 3 or 4 illustrations per week so I got about 16 new pen and ink illustrations to scan. Have a few celebrity type portraits also on the to do list. It feels great to just draw. Though once they are scanned I'll be busy with adding colors to all those drawings

If Family Guy and James Bond had a bastard love child you would get "Archer".

Saw this available for viewing through Netflix instant view and had to watch it. Funniest show I've seen since Family Guy, raunchy humor and full of politically incorrectness mixed in with some fun spy adventure stuff. Animated in a cool 50's comicbook style, making visually enjoyable as well. I sat and watched the entire 1st season in one sitting.

Frazetta Dies at 82

This news came as a bit of a shock. How can a man who creates images of powerful men and strong seductive women die. He himself being a strong and athletic person you'd expect, hope he'd live forever. I certainly wished I could have met him but the paintings left behind have inspired me since my youth. First encountering his art wen I was about 9 or 10 years of age and being totally blown away. I never believed paintings could be so exciting and full of action. With every pen stroke and brush stroke I strive to be at his level. Not emulate his style but to capture the same excitement and action he's able to pull off so easily. He's been a great inspiration to me and to many others and I'm sure he'll continue to be a great inspiration to many others. His physical body may have died but his spirit is still alive and kicking.
